Record number of Wales based businesses to attend Arab Health Exhibition

A delegation of 17 Welsh companies are attending the Arab Health Exhibition and Congress this week to participate in one of the largest healthcare events in the world.

The four-day event, held in Dubai, will run from 27-30 January.

Over 3,000 exhibitors from 63 countries attended Arab Health in 2013, which attracted more than 75,000 healthcare professionals from around the world. Visitor numbers are expected to increase by 15% this year.

Rocialle, one of the companies exhibiting at Arab Health, is based in Mountain Ash and has one of Europe’s largest medical clean rooms and on-site sterilisation facilities.
Finance director, Stephen Burt, said: “We are looking to increase our sales in the Middle East this year and are delighted that the Welsh Government recognises the export opportunities in this region and is supporting companies in attending Arab Health 2014.”

The Middle East healthcare business is expected to be worth $60 billion by 2025 as the need for investment in services and facilities increases. It is the only region in the world that faces such a rapid increase in demand and this growth is creating new opportunities.

Economy Minister, Edwina Hart, said: “I am pleased to see that a record number of companies are taking advantage of Welsh Government support to attend these key events and take up opportunities to enter new markets, trade internationally and benefit from winning export orders.

“Life Sciences is one of our priority economic sectors where we have significant strengths with world class expertise across a number of fields. Arab Health provides a great platform for companies to develop their business across the Middle East.”

The Welsh Government will have two branded stands – including a central meeting area where Welsh businesses can meet clients – within the UK pavilion organised by ABHI (The Association of British Healthcare Industries) on behalf of UKTI.
