Series of events to help encourage Welsh exporters

A series of regional events are taking place this month as part of UK Trade & Investment’s Export Week (18-22 May) to help encourage businesses to export.

In Wales there are five events taking place, sharing advice about the barriers businesses face when it comes to exporting as well as guidance for specific sectors including ICT and food and drink.

Kick-staring the week is a ‘Life Science Boot Camp’, held at the Life Science Hub Wales on 18 May, where businesses will learn about Intellectual Property, payment terms and legal issues. In Bridgend on 19 May, ICT companies have the opportunity to learn about agents, licensing and joint ventures in the ‘ICT route to market’ event.

Further seminars as part of UKTI’s Export Week include the ‘basic recipe for success’, where businesses in the food and drink sector will learn about labelling, marketing, pricing and documentation on 20 May at the Miskin Manor Hotel, Pontyclun.

Growing your exports through e-commerce platforms will be covered in Swansea on 21 May, with the week of events culminating with the ‘exporting digital content’ seminar on 22 May in Cardiff. Primarily for companies in the creative industries, this event will look at the range of issues businesses should be aware of when exporting their digital content.

Export Week, a national campaign held twice a year, aims to provide established and would-be exporters with practical advice on doing business overseas.
