Welsh businesses can now benefit from expert advice on doing business in China following the launch of a new partnership between the South Wales Chamber of Commerce and the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC).
Three China business clinics will take place in Wales this summer, which will offer exporters the opportunity to book a one-on-one, 45 minute session with a CBBC adviser to discuss doing business with the world’s largest trading nation.
The clinics will take place throughout May, June and July in Newport, where the CBBC is using the Chamber’s head office as a base in Wales, in hope of boosting exports to the country.
The Welsh Government has signaled China as one of its target areas to continue to grow exports. Last year, it led two trade missions to China, including the cities of Chongqing, Chengdu and Shanghai as part of a multi-sector trade mission.
It also has agreements with the Municipal Governments of Beijing and Chongqing, which commits the governments to work together in a number of sectors, while it has offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing aimed at promoting trade with Wales.
China surpassed the US as the world’s largest trading nation in 2013, after annual trade in goods passed the $4tn (£2.4tn) mark. The Asian economy had already become the world’s largest exporter of goods in 2009.
The business clinics will take place on May 9, June 6 and July 8. For more information contact international@southwaleschamber.co.uk.
