More than 70 representatives from Wales’s life sciences sector are in Dusseldorf this week to attend a medical trade event.
Medica, a four-day event held from November 20-23 featuring more than 4,500 exhibitors from 120 countries, is expected to draw more than 130,000 visitors to the German city.
The Welsh Government is leading its largest ever trade delegation to Medica, hosting a Welsh pavilion in the International Hall, and a stand in the Diagnostics Hall for the first time to testify the significant expertise and growth potential in the medical diagnostics sector in Wales.
The Welsh businesses attending, both large multinational and start-up companies, are leading the way in producing diagnostic products that provide considerable patient and clinical benefits. Companies attending include Asalus, a trainer in laparoscopic and other surgical disciplines; manufacturer and supplier of clinical research instruments for neuroscientists, Magtism; and specialist molecular diagnostics company, MC Diagnostics.
“It was encouraging to see more Welsh companies attending this year’s event, which shows the increasing growth potential for the Welsh life sciences sector,” said Economy Minister Edwina Hart.
“This annual event is very important in our drive to increase the international profile of the sector through increased trade and export activity. The Welsh Government is committed to making Wales the best possible environment for Life Sciences innovation and business growth.”
In 2014, the Welsh Government will be leading further Life Sciences missions to Arab Health in Dubai, UAE (27 – 30 January) and Bio Europe in Turin, Italy (10 – 12 March). For further event visit our events calendar.
